Nourishing the World's Future from the Fields of Shiga, Japan

Our baby food is born from the abundant nature and heartfelt dedication of the people of Shiga. Home to Japan's largest lake, Lake Biwa, Shiga has utilized the fertile soil surrounding the lake to produce bountiful harvests for generations. Known as the “Rice Granary of Kansai,” this land is a testament to the richness of Japan’s agricultural heritage.

Japan’s Trusted Leader in Premium Baby Food

We, Hatake no Mikata, are a Shiga-based company, dedicated to producing and selling high-quality baby food. Since 2015, we have been offering baby food that combines quality with style, introducing something new to the Japanese market. Our products have been chosen by countless parents, establishing our pioneering role in the baby food industry. As we lead the market, our reach continues to expand. Today, our products are widely available in department stores, baby product shops, food retailers, and accommodations across Japan, as well as through online sales, where our products have garnered widespread praise.

The name Hatake no Mikata (はたけのみかた) carries a dual meaning. Phonetically, mikata can refer to "Ally" (味方) or "Perspective" (見方) in Japanese. Through this name, we convey three core values:

  1. Being an Ally of Farmers - We strive to truly support working farmers who approach agriculture with sincerity and dedication.
  2. Sharing the Perspective of the Field - We aim to convey a view of the fields through our products, such that our customers gain insight into the passion and dedication of the producers.
  3. Embodying the Omi Merchants' Philosophy - Inspired by the famous Omi Merchants of Shiga, a historical merchant group who rose to national prominence, we adopt their motto of "Sanpo Yoshi" (or trilateral benefit, which serves the seller, the buyer, and society). This principle has shaped business ethics for generations, and we aim to create value that positively impacts not only our customers but also society as a whole.

A Bite Full of Vitality, Made for Your Baby

We carefully select vegetables and rice grown without chemical fertilizers or pesticides, working directly with farmers, primarily in Shiga. By understanding their dedication and the land that nurtures their crops, we bring the essence of their passion to every product. Our commitment goes beyond baby food - we strive to sustain biodiverse farmlands, preserve fertile soil, and protect the health of future generations.

We capture the fresh taste and natural vitality of vegetables straight from the fields and bring it to your baby's food. Because it's your baby's first and most important meal, we prioritize safety and quality above all else.

By focusing on “quality,” “flavor,” “nutrition,” and “convenience,” while also committing to sustainability and supporting agriculture, we deliver baby food that meets the true needs of modern families.

Building a Better Future Through Agriculture

Our goal is to "support society and connect it to the future through the power of agriculture." By promoting sustainable farming, supporting farmers and communities, and providing nutritious food, we strive to create a better future for generations ahead.

Connecting
with Small-Scale Farmers

We purchase imperfect or non-standard vegetables at fair prices, supporting farmers and their livelihoods.

Connecting
with the Environment

We practice sustainable farming, avoiding fertilizers and pesticides to preserve biodiversity for the future.

Connecting
with Communities

Through food banks and community initiatives, we support the future of the next generation's children.

Empowering Farmers Through Sustainable Partnerships

We partner directly with around 20 farmers in Shiga Prefecture who are committed to sustainable farming practices. To support their dedication, we guarantee fixed prices for their produce, including items that don’t meet standard market specifications due to size or shape. This approach reflects our commitment to addressing challenges in agriculture while ensuring fair compensation for the care and effort invested in every crop. Rooted in respect for the farmers and their work, we strive to build long-lasting, strong, and trusted relationships that honor the value of what they grow.
